Overview

Our APMG accredited AgileBA Foundation Training Course will examine the role of a business analyst in an agile world. Bringing together the methodology of Agile DSDM and the actual role of a business analyst in order to combine them for effective use in agile ways of working.

The Agile BA certification was created in partnership with the Agile Business Consortium, the professional body for promoting and enabling business agility worldwide. They have been contributing to agile knowledge for over 25 years with the use of DSDM (formally called Dynamic Systems Development Methods) and are the developers of Agile BA, Agile PM, and Agile PMF.

DSDM is vendor-independent, covers the entire life-cycle of a project and provides best practice guidance for on-time, in-budget delivery of projects, with proven scalability to address projects of all sizes and for any business sector.

Description

Why should I gain an AgileBA Certification?

An Agile Business Analyst (BA) plays a pivotal role within any team. They are the lynchpin between business stakeholders and the development team. It can be stressful managing multiple requests from the business whilst ensuring the progress of current projects. Similarly, an AgileBA needs to be flexible, collaborative and open to changing direction at short notice, such is the nature of an Agile organisation.

What does the AgileBA course cover?

There’s a lot to manage as an AgileBA but it can be a hugely rewarding role. Our AgileBA course will give you the information, training and tools you need to juggle multiple priorities and projects with ease. It will equip you with skills that will last you throughout your BA career and will position you as an expert within your field. It will also give you an overview of how Agile methods differ to more traditional Waterfall ways of working.

Introducing an Agile approach has a significant impact on the role of the Business Analyst, on their existing skills and their way of working. Whilst traditional skills are still valuable, new skills and ways of working need to be adopted to harness the benefits of a new way of working and to appreciate the different relationships with co-workers.

Based on the Agile Business Consortium’s well-established Agile Project Framework, the guidance gives context to the Business Analyst role beyond the individual project, in relation to organisational mission and strategy, and provides additional depth and guidance for the Business Analyst role.

Beginning with an overview of the fundamentals of an AgileBA role, the course will take a comprehensive look at why an AgileBA is so critical to any business. Moving to more practical application, you’ll take part in workshops and modelling techniques to put your knowledge into action.

This AgileBA course covers the 13 areas in the AgileBA handbook over 12 modules. They are:

  1. Introduction and The Role of a Business Analyst in an Agile World
  2. Agile Fundamentals and the Agile BA
  3. The Agile Business Case
  4. Stakeholders in an Agile Project
  5. Requirements and User Stories
  6. Prioritisation
  7. Workshops
  8. Modelling
  9. Timeboxing and Iterative Development
  10. Requirements Planning and Estimating Throughout the Lifecycle
  11. The Requirements Lifecycle in an Agile Project
  12. Making the Transition to Agile Business Analysis

We will also cover the Appendices throughout the course which are:

  1. The Glossary
  2. Modelling Techniques
  3. Project Approach Questionnaire
  4. Facilitated Workshops

At Reed Courses, courses are delivered in a number of ways, including online courses, where the course content can be accessed online remotely, and classroom courses, where courses are delivered in person at a classroom venue.

A regulated qualification is delivered by a learning institution which is regulated by a government body. In England, the government body which regulates courses is Ofqual. Ofqual regulated qualifications sit on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF), which can help students understand how different qualifications in different fields compare to each other. The framework also helps students to understand what qualifications they need to progress towards a higher learning goal, such as a university degree or equivalent higher education award.

An endorsed course is a skills based course which has been checked over and approved by an independent awarding body. Endorsed courses are not regulated so do not result in a qualification - however, the student can usually purchase a certificate showing the awarding body's logo if they wish. Certain awarding bodies - such as Quality Licence Scheme and TQUK - have developed endorsement schemes as a way to help students select the best skills based courses for them.
